The brief for this ensuite was simple – provide a bathroom renovation in a Bendigo home to modernise the space, and a luxurious bath was essential. The layout remained exactly the same. The room is rectangular in shape with an out-of-sight space which houses the toilet.

The demolition work was quite extensive as there was a corner spa with tiled steps. Once all the fittings and fixtures were removed preparation was undertaken to prepare the floor for an in-situ shower floor. The shower is open with no screen, however provision has been made with the floor tiles so a shower screen can be added at a later date.

The contemporary Methven Aio Aurajet rail shower is very luxurious as it delivers a full-bodied spray. A tiled shelf runs the length of the room alongside the bath through to the shower. Large 600 x 600mm porcelain tiles are used on the floor and matt 600 x 300mm on the walls.

The custom-made off-the-floor laminex vanity has a wood grain and is topped with stunning marble Caesarstone. There is plenty of storage with five drawers in the vanity and the three-mirrored-door shaving cabinet also has extra space. More bench space is created with the niche that runs the length of the wall behind the vanity.

Ample windows to the garden outside offer a peaceful outlook while soaking in the deep bath. And the large shuttered windows opposite the mirrors reflect further natural light into the room.

The bathroom renovation now provides a sophisticated aesthetic to complement this beautiful contemporary home.

Update – The clients love the open shower and there are no plans to add a shower screen.
